Artists :: Ben Glover
BiographyBen Glover, the critically acclaimed Irish singer/songwriter, has been compared to Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and David Gray and already produced two albums in collaboration with the likes of Vince Gill, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale and Mary Gauthier. His first album, “The Week the Clocks Changed,” produced by J.D. Foster, drew international acclaim, including a four-star review in the Irish Times, a three-star review in Q magazine, and Maverick Magazine raved, “A great debut album from a major talent in the making.” Glover’s second album, heavily influenced by his time in Nashville, “Through the Noise, Through the Night” was another success, with soul-moving melodies that linger and stir. While he lived most of his life in Belfast, Glover recently relocated to Nashville where he has found the sort of collaboration he couldn’t find anywhere else, something he’s been looking for since he was a kid. Glover’s passion for music was heightened at the age of 15 listening to Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, although he’d been playing in pubs since he was 13. After a stint in law school, he turned his attention fully to his musical career and hasn’t looked back, although he’s heeded some advice. “David Gray told me quite a few years ago to ‘follow your heart.’” It’s been said by many people and it’s a cliché, but it definitely is the strongest and most honest guide.” Glover is currently recording his third album, “Before the Birds,” in Nashville, Tennessee with Neilson Hubbard at the helm. During his recording sessions, Glover relies on the TASCAM DR-100, which offers high-end recording features with four built-in microphones, two cardioid and two omnidirectional, with analog limiting and filtering for great-sounding recordings. A pair of XLR microphone inputs with phantom power welcomes pro-grade condenser microphones with line in and out connectors. A built-in speaker allows for instant playback, and a metal enclosure includes a tripod mounting hole for recording flexibility. A wireless remote control gives him the option of remotely starting the recording. “The Tascam DR-100 has quickly become a piece of gear that I can't do without. As a songwriter I can't tell you how great it is having the four mic inputs in co-writing sessions, as it helps to lay down amazing quality recordings of song ideas and arrangements. As a performer, being able to plug it directly into the board gives me the opportunity for great and easy live recordings which I can now offer to my fans as free downloads and extra bonus tracks from my website,” Glover said. |
