2016-10-18 - All Things Post Podcasts with TASCAM MiNiSTUDIO Creator
Tampa, FL - October 2016... Founded by digital media producer and director Niel Guilarte, Wildstyle Media Group specializes in creating high-end digital content for film, TV, and more. In addition to serving as Chief Creative Officer, Guilarte is also the host of All Things Post, a highly acclaimed podcast for people working in audio post-production. When planning a recent trip to Puerto Rico to direct a documentary, Guilarte decided to field test TASCAM's MiNiSTUDIO Creator US-42 as an audio interface for mobile production and podcasting. |
"I've been using TASCAM recording products since I started in 1991," begins Guilarte. "I have a TASCAM DR-60D digital recorder that I love. So I know TASCAM products are high quality. When we were shooting the film in Puerto Rico, I took the MiNiSTUDIO Creator US-42 with me everywhere. It turned out to be a great solution; you could podcast from pretty much anywhere with it. To start with, it's tiny-it fit in every bag I had-which was very convenient for mobile use. And it sounds great!" |
Back in his studio, Guilarte dug deeper. "The MiNiSTUDIO Creator made things so fast," the veteran producer exclaims. "I plugged it in, and my DAW immediately found it as a device. I didn't have to download or install anything; it worked as soon as I plugged it in. It's very easy to use, and once I figured out how to use the PON buttons-they're great for intro effects, by the way-I was able to get right to work." For Guilarte, one of the biggest advantages of the US-42 is connectivity. "The US-42 has the connections podcasters need," he asserts. "You can plug your smartphone or tablet straight into the front, and it has two mic/intrsument inputs on the top. You also get two headphone outs, and in the back you have the USB 2.0 port and line outputs. These connections make podcasting extremely easy." |
Guilarte tested MiNiSTUDIO Creator US-42 in every way a podcaster might use it. "I used it to create All Things Post podcasts," recalls the five-time Telly Award winner. "I tested it with iPhone headphones, and I even tried using it with an external battery instead of connecting with USB to the computer. Everything worked fine!" |
With his well-equipped studio, one would assume that Guiarte doens't use every feature on the US-42. "That's true," he confirms. "but it's important for many podcasters to use the built-in reverb, compression and EQ in order to sound like a pro. And I do use the PON buttons and other effects." Impressed, Guilarte showed the MiNiSTUDIO Creator US-42 to other media creators. "Podcasters I've shown it to really like how compact it is, and we agree the audio quality is awesome," he relates. "And people like the vibe of the design. It's a great product!" |
